Right now, we are joined by Jason priestly. You know him, when he rose to fame as the heartthrob Brandon Walsh, in one of the most iconic TV series of all-time. "Beverly hills 90210." Now, he's written a memoir, telling the stories of his life in and out of TV's most famous zip code. Good to see you. You, too. You said in the past, you're a rather private person. Why was it time to write a memoir? As you know, you've written a book. These things take time. And I sort of came up with the idea for writing this book in August of 2012. And that was ten years after I had that race car crash that almost took my life in August of 2002. And I realized that it had been ten years since that accident. I realized in those ten years, I had achieved all of the -- all of the goals that I had set for myself while I was laying in a hospital bed in Indiana, unable to move, unable to think, unable to remember things because I had broken my back and I had shattered my feet. Going 180 miles per hour. 187 miles per hour. I was racing in indy lights. I had -- I -- the drive and ambition that I had, in all aspects of my life, that had -- that had driven me in my career as an actor and had catapulted me to fame as an actor, had driven me to great heights as a race car driver. And unfortunately had almost taken my life and got me to that place with I was in that hospital bed. I had to repurpose that drive and ambition and dedication to rebuilding myself physically and mentally. And rebuild my career and my life, once I was able to get out of the hospital. And I wanted the book to be about that. What that journey was like for me to do that. And I set really lofty goals for myself. And by 2012, I was about to start the third season of my show for HBO, "Canada." Which had been dominated for 23 gemini awards. And I had won at the monte Carlo fest festival. I felt it was time to close that chapter in my life. And it felt like the right time to write this book. In this book, you are very honest about the lows. And sharing a lot of funny memories from "90210." And before "90210." As a young actor, roomies with brad Pitt. Yeah. Well, you know, like all young actors, the times when you struggle, before you find fame, those memories are sometimes the most fond memories you have. Do tell. Those relationships are some of the best times that you have. You know, you end up rooming with a lot of guys when -- A struggling actor. You have a lot of roommates. Not everybody can say they roomed with brad Pitt. I don't know. Around those times, I think a lot of guys roomed with brad Pitt, actually. Brad shared a lot of places with a lot of guys. Yeah. And you do share a story about him. I share a few stories. There's actually -- you know, brad was -- brad was notorious for not showering back then. And all of us did, actually. We used to have competitions who could go the longest without showering. And the winner? Brad always won. He could go weeks. I don't know how he did it. He's not like that anymore. He's pretty meticulous about the way he takes care of himself these days. You talk about brad. You talk about your castmates. We were talking about a story. You have to read the book. It is fun to see that world, that was so important to all of us, culturally. Through your eyes. Thank you for sharing. It's really well written. My pleasure. Jason priestly, a memoir, hits bookstores today. Check it out.
