Transcript for Soldiers Home From Afghanistan for Holiday
Really enjoy "the play of the day" every day. Today, of course, a day to give thanks for all we have. And really, for especially those who can't be with their loved ones. Those who serve this country, protect our freedoms and sacrifice for us here in the states and abroad. And I had a chance to go to afghanistan lately, to meet with a few of them in harm's way every day. And was on-hand, and witnessed when these three soldiers got to reunite with loved ones after nine months abroad in ft. Drum, new york. Dan at "nightline" last night, was great enough to feature them. An amazing story. You did great work with it. And these guys are fantastic. And this thanksgiving, in fact. There's captain william lott, with a daughter, finley, he had never met. Major mike stewart and his wife, jennifer and their two children. Prepping a turkey. A little slice of what it means for them to be home for the holidays. It's a time to relax and really spend time with family that you haven't seen in forever. To have him back probably is what makes this the best thanksgiving in a long time. Bless you, one and all. Great to see you again.
