correspondent Cecilia having a Vega with us. Is there every a day there's not a lot coming out of Washington. Another day, another controversial tweet. This time, the president's team says he's not the blame for the tweet about Michael Flynn. The former national security adviser who pled guilty to lying to the FBI. Flynn also said he would cooperate for the special counsel. Saturday, trump sent out a tweet. But this morning, his lawyer is saying he, the lawyer, drafted the tweet. We'll dive into the $1.5 trillion tax bill pass bdty senate in the middle of the night. Who wins? Who loses? Will this make it to the president's desk? Team coverage. George is standing by. We start with David Wright, right there at the white house. Where the president is back on Twitter this morning. David, good morning to you. Reporter: Good morning, Dan and Cecilia. This is a huge weekend here at the white house. Several big stories dropping at once. As much as the president had hoped to celebrate this week end, the senate's passage of tax reform. Ton avoidable topic has been Russia. Try as he might to savor his first big legislative victory. Are you concerned about what Michael Flynn might tell the special counsel? No, I'm not. Reporter: To the trump keeps getting bogged down in the Russia probe. Hat has been shown is no collusion. No collusion. There's been slightly -- there's been absolutely no collusion. Reporter: This morning, "The New York Times" on stained e-mail exchanges. Showing Michael Flynn was no renegade. Katie Mcfarland worried about the political impact. If there's a tit for tat escalation, trump will have difficultyive proving Russia relations. She says how the Democrats were likely to spin this. General Flynn is a wonderful man. Think he's been treated very, very unfairly by the media. Reporter: President trump maintained he fired Flynn for lying to the vice president. I fired him for what he said to Mike pence. Reporter: A new tweet from the president suggests trump knew Flynn lied to the FBI, too. Quote, I had to fire general Flynn because he lied to the vice president and the FBI. He's pled guilty to those lice. It's a shame. Because his actions were lawful. There was nothing to hide. Overnight, trump's attorney, John dowd, told ABC news, he, not the president, drafted that tweet. Anthat he did so in a sloppy manner. If the president knew Flynn tlid the FBI, it makes it more significant that trump allegedly asked the FBI director to go easy on Flynn. As James Comey later testified. I understood him to be saying what he wanted me to do was drop any invoice gags connected to Flynn's account of his conversations with the Russians. Reporter: Comey, now a private citizen, since the president fired him is relishing the work of the special counsel. Posting this sun set photo to Instagram with the comment, to paraphrase the buddha. Thee things cannot be long hidden. The sun, the moon, and the truth. And on "Snl." This is a time I would like to reflect on all the good things I have done this year. It will only take a minute. Reporter: Plenty of new material. Who are you, Jacob marry? No, I'm Michael Flynn, the ghost of witness flipped. Reporter: Earlier in morning, the the president tweeted again saying he never asked comb Yi to stop investigating Flynn. Calling that just more fake news covering another Comey lie. He sent that one out at 6:15 A.M. Presumably trump wrote that one. Not the lawyer, Dan? I guess we'll have to presume that for now. We're learning more about why an FBI agent was fired from the Mueller investigation. Reporter: Over the summer the special counsel fired one of his top investigators after he -- sent out potentially anti-Trump text messages to a colleague. The president is very interested in that story. He retweeted a story about that just this morning. A lot of questions. Thank you, David. The other big story out of
