Question: What Factors Might Increase My Risk Of Developing Fibromyalgia?

Answer: Fibromyalgia can, but is not always, the result of some sort of trauma like a traffic accident, a disease, or surgery. However, more recent studies on twins indicate that there is some genetic predisposition to getting fibromyalgia. So, if you're a woman between the ages of 20 and 50, and have someone in your family with fibromyalgia, you're at increased risk.
