Answer: Ulcers nowadays can often be cured, sometimes with the use of an antibiotic. So just because you had an ulcer four years ago does not mean that you cannot take aspirin.

If your stomach does get upset with aspirin, you could try an enteric coated aspirin, which is absorbed more in the bowels below the stomach, or you could try a different dose. That you can work out with your doctor.

But an old ulcer does not necessarily mean that you cannot safely use aspirin.
