Can Antidepressants Be Used to Treat My Depression While I Am Getting Chemotherapy?

Question: Can Antidepressants Be Used to Treat My Depression While I Am Getting Chemotherapy?

Answer:Yes, antidepressants can be used. And if women are already on anti-depressants, they can continue on them. There are some drugs that have interactions with chemotherapy -- typically not the antidepressants -- although some of our other drugs (like tamoxifen), we have to be careful about which anti-depressants are used. I think the important thing to remember is that your physician should always know what drugs you're taking, so that they can address these questions about interactions as they go along.

Next: Should I call my health care team when I have a question or concern or just wait until my next appointment?
