Do Certain Foods Increase The Risk Of Developing Prostate Cancer?

Question: Do certain foods increase the risk of developing prostate cancer?

Candace Johnson, Ph.D., Roswell Park Cancer Institute

Answer: There's no food that is going to cause prostate cancer, if you will, but there are foods that can affect your risk of prostate cancer. Low fat diets, fish oils have been shown to decrease your risk of prostate cancer. In cultures where they have high incidence of eating fish, like in the Asian world, they have a much lower risk of prostate cancer, as opposed to Europe and the U.S. where meat is consumed at a higher rate. Those individuals who migrate from those areas to the U.S. or Europe, their prostate cancer risk increases.
