Carb lovers know how hard it is to avoid the foods they love, and snacking can cause a good diet to fail. One way to promote diet success is to create daily meal plans and to stick to them.

Below is a sample one-day meal plan from the Carb Lover's Kick Start Plan.

Breakfast
Banana-nut oatmeal

or

1 banana, plus 1 teaspoon peanut or almond butter

Lunch
Express lunch plate: 1 large hard-cooked egg, 1-ounce cheddar cheese, and 1 sliced apple, served with 3 rye crispbread crackers

or

Tuna or chicken salad kits (brands like StarKist or BumbleBee), plus 1 medium pear, plus 1 string cheese.

Dinner
Shrimp stir-fry with ginger

or

Boca veggie burger with 1 toasted whole-grain bun and 1-teaspoon mustard, plus 1 medium apple.

Snack
White bean and herb hummus with crudites (recipe below):

¼ canned white beans (rinsed and drained), mashed with 2 tablespoons olive oil, 1 tablespoon chopped chives, and 1 tablespoon lemon juice. Serve dip with ½ cup sliced raw veggies.
