The driver who tried ramming into a group of soldiers outside a mosque in the southeastern city of Valence, France, appears to have no ties to terrorists, a prosecutor said Saturday.
The driver was wounded after he was shot by one of the soldiers. France has been on high alert since attacks in Paris in November.
Prosecutor Alex Perrin said "it seems like this is a completely isolated act." Perrin added the man, a French citizen of Tunisian descent, was a practicing Muslim but showed no signs of being radicalized.
No weapons or explosives were found inside his car.
