The double-amputee was initially charged with premeditated murder for bail purposes while police investigated the circumstances of the shooting, which has gripped millions and shone a spotlight on Pistorius' life.
In June, the magistrate warned that "scandalous and possibly contemptuous" reporting by some in the media could impede Pistorius' right to a fair trial, adding that it's important that everyone respect the judicial process.
The magistrate's concern came after Sky News released images of the blood-stained bathroom where Pistorius fatally shot Steenkamp Feb. 14. Sky News said it "obtained" the collection of photographs of Pistorius' home, but did not divulge the source.
One picture shows bloody shoe footprints, possible evidence that investigators contaminated the crime scene.
Pistorius was seen just twice in public between the time he was granted bail Feb. 22 and his most recent appearance in court June 4.
