On June 5, 2016, award-winning photojournalist David Gilkey, along with Afghan interpreter Zabhihullah Tamanna, were killed while on assignment for NPR in Afghanistan. According to NPR, Gilkey and Tamanna were traveling with an Afghan army unit when their armored Humvee was hit by rocket-propelled grenades in what appeared to be an ambush. ABC News remembers these journalists with a look back at the incredible work of Gilkey.
