Hershey's Adds Carrot Cake-Flavored Kisses to Easter Candy Lineup
The new Kisses taste like carrot cake and have a light cream filling.
— -- The egg's supremacy over Easter is being challenged -- by Hershey's Kisses, which has added a seasonal, somewhat unusual, flavor to its repertoire: Carrot cake-flavored Kisses.
For its temporary makeover, the iconic treat is wrapped in orange foil with a plume -- the official word for the paper flag that sticks out of the top --that reads "Carrot Cake" in green lettering.
The Kisses themselves are a creamy orange color and taste "just like carrot cake," Hershey's spokeswoman Lauren Aardewijn told ABC News today. The smooth texture gives way to a light, cream cheese-like filling in the center, she added.
Hershey's decided to create the Hershey’s Kisses Carrot Cake Candy as a fun, symbolic springtime offering, Aardewijn said.
"We took the classic flavors of carrot cake, which is a seasonal favorite," she said. "When you think Easter time, you think of the Easter bunny, and bunnies love carrots."
Hershey's new Kisses are available exclusively at Walmart, and the suggested retail price is $3 for a 9-ounce bag, Aardewijn said. One serving size, about nine Kisses, tallies in at 220 calories.
An earlier version of this story stated that the Hershey’s Kisses Carrot Cake Candy costs $3.24. The suggested retail price is $3.
