— -- A group of children with cancer, or who have survived it, will strut the catwalk and model outfits from the dream jobs they'll pursue once they beat the disease.

One show will take place Nov. 12 in Charlotte, North Carolina to benefit pediatric cancer research. Mia Furrer, 8, who survived stage 3 Hodgkin's lymphoma, will take her final walk of the day dressed as a nurse while being escorted by someone in the field.

"I'm so happy for them and I think this is such a good way for the kids to show their strength in other ways," Mia's mother Marianna Furrer of Concord, North Carolina told ABC News.

"These kids, when they're diagnosed with cancer, they basically think their life is over," she said. "It takes a while for them to get out of that little funk. They are thrilled to have a future. For them to go on stage with someone in their dream profession, it gives them courage to reach for anything and they are capable of that."

The foundation collaborates with 20 hospitals nationwide to develop cutting-edge therapies, according to David Frazer, CEO of NPCF.

"Our Fashion Funds the Cure show has been a thirteen-year tradition in the Tampa Bay area and we are thrilled to bring it to Charlotte, North Carolina and Alpharetta, Georgia thanks to our exclusive retail partner, Dillard’s," Frazer said. "Our research serves children battling cancer nationwide and we are excited to see our models in both cities rock the runway."

For her final walk, Mia will don pink scrubs representing her dream of being a nurse.

"I knew she wanted to be a nurse," Furrer said of her daughter. "While we were going through treatment at Levine Hospital, she always expressed an interest. She'd say, 'Mommy, I have to do this when I grow up. I want to help other kids like me.'"

Mia is one of eight children who will walk in the show in Charlotte.

In April, Cayden Riley, 9, a brain tumor survivor, walked the show in Tampa, Florida dressed as a firefighter just like his dad, Chris Riley, who escorted him down the runway with the fire chief.

Cayden recently celebrated his 5-year anniversary of being a cancer survivor. He was diagnosed with a childhood brain tumor called Atypical Teratoid/Rhabdoid (AT/RT). Doctors gave him a 10 percent chance of survival, his mother Chelsea Riley told ABC News.

"It's not only to show what [the kids] want to be, it's to show what is possible with donations from people," Riley said about the cause. "With our story, there was no cure ... a year later there was a protocol. To me, my child had a chance because of the funding and belief there was going to be a cure for this."

"Through her treatments, she's been exposed to a lot of medical situations," Ezelle said of her daughter. "She's always wanting to play doctor. At home she gives babies a checkup, gives me a checkup. They are a big part of her life, the doctors and nurses. Our kids, there's more to them than cancer. They need this exposure so people can learn more about childhood cancer. They all have dreams and hopes of what they are going to be when they grow up. We hope she can be healthy enough to live out her dream."
