— -- Reciting a poem can get you a free cup of coffee today.

In honor of World Poetry Day, Julius Meinl is asking customers to pay for their coffee with a handwritten poem.

The promotion is available at 1,100 locations in 23 countries across the globe.

"For us, inspiration is the soul of the Viennese coffee house culture. Its essence is poetry," Marcel Loffler, CEO of Julius Meinl, said in a statement. "Whether in Shanghai, Dubai, London or Chicago, people look for moments of deceleration, which in turn becomes the source of inspiration. In this sense we want to actively encourage people on all continents, to bring more poetry into the world and hence make it a better place."

It's unclear if baristas will use their critical judgment when deciding whether your poem is indeed a poem.
