Congressman Marries Candidate Seeking to Replace Him
Rep. Alan Grayson wed Dena Minning over the weekend.
— -- Rep. Alan Grayson, who is running for the U.S. Senate, got married over the weekend to the candidate seeking to replace him in the House.
Grayson’s bride, Dena Minning — a biochemist who is running for Florida’s 9th Congressional District — changed all her social media names to Dena Grayson over the long weekend, noted The Orlando Political Observer, which broke the news.
“Rep. Alan Grayson and his wife, Dr. Dena Grayson, had a small private wedding ceremony Sunday evening, with friends and family in attendance to celebrate their union, in the Florida beach town where Dena grew up,” Alan Grayson’s spokeswoman Brook Hines said in a statement.
She added that there were no media or political people in attendance and that Alan Grayson read Maya Angelou’s "Touched by an Angel" at the ceremony.
The Political Observer wrote that the two had been at the center of marriage rumors for months.
Alan Grayson’s previous marriage ended in a 2015 annulment after a judge ruled that his then-wife was married to another man at the time of her wedding to Grayson in 1990.
