What's in a Name? Hillary Clinton Has Lost the Vote in 8 'Clinton' Counties
She has another shot to win a "Clinton" County tonight.
— -- Hillary Clinton won her home states of New York and Arkansas, but she isn't winning her namesake counties.
There are "Clinton" Counties in at least nine states.
So far, having the same last name in a county is not helping the former secretary of state.
She has lost all eight Clinton Counties that have voted so far in the primaries -- Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Missouri, New York, Ohio and Pennsylvania. Clinton was, however, the primary winner in six of those eight states. Democrats in Clinton County, Kentucky, are headed to the polls tonight.
Hillary and Bill Clinton have no known ties to the naming of the various counties.
Clinton County in New York was reportedly named in honor of George Clinton, a founding father who was the first governor of the state. He later became vice president for both Thomas Jefferson and James Madison.
