Vice President and General Manager of ABC Radio Steve Jones sent the following note to staff announcing that Scott Goldberg has been named the midday Information Network anchor for ABC News Radio.
I am happy to announce that Scott Goldberg has been named the midday Information Network anchor for ABC News Radio, filling the role previously held by Cheri Preston. Scott will anchor national newscasts during midday hours each weekday. As you know, in December Cheri took over the morning drive anchor duties for the ABC News Radio Information Network.
Since joining ABC News Radio in 2012, Scott has shown tremendous versatility as a reporter and anchor. He has covered a wide range of major stories including both Hurricanes Irene and Sandy, the manhunt for the Boston Marathon bombing suspects and two presidential elections. Scott will continue using his reporting skills and this summer will travel to Rio for the highly anticipated 2016 Summer Olympics.
Scott has won the recognition of his peers through multiple awards. In 2015, Scott received the national Edward R. Murrow Award for writing. He also was a member of the teams that won the Edward R. Murrow Award for ABC News Radio's coverage of the Boston Marathon bombings and Overall Excellence in 2014 and 2015. Prior to joining ABC News, Scott received five Emmys and two regional Murrows.
Please join me in congratulating Scott on his new position.
