— -- PARIS, Nov 18 - Paris St Germain are aiming to become the first club to best Olympique Lyon in a league match this season on Friday despite not having hit their best form four months into the campaign. French champions Lyon lead Ligue 1 with 32 points from 14 matches with only one defeat in all competitions this season, a first round loss to Lille in the League Cup last week. "There are the best side in the championship and you can see it when they are playing," said PSG goalkeeper Lionel Letizi. "They are solid and their replacements are as good as the first choice players." "They have become an example to follow if you want to become a great club," Letizi said. "But we are still hoping to be the first team to beat them in a league match this season." The good news for PSG is that Lyon coach Paul Le Guen will be without goalkeeper Gregory Coupet, club captain Claudio Cacapa, influential defender Eric Abidal and striker Sylvain Wiltord, who are all injured for the match at Parc des Princes on Friday night. In addition, the Parisians were the last club to beat the title holders in a league match last May. The bad news for the fans of PSG is that they may have snatched their eighth consecutive victory over their arch-rivals Olympique Marseille last week but they are still far from their best and were thrashed 3-0 at Girondins Bordeaux at the weekend. "The team is at 80 per cent and it's obvious that we didn't play our best football against Bordeaux," Letizi said. "We must forget about this match and carry on working. We can't change everything because of one bad result." Paris are 12th in the table and trail Lyon by 15 points but they still hope they can secure a berth in the Champions League next season. "There are still a lot of games to play," Letizi said. "Last year, Lyon were 10 or 12 points behind Monaco but they managed to clinch the title in the end. "We are aiming at being in the top five at the winter break. If we manage that, then anything is possible." Lyon midfielder Mahamadou Diarra was looking forward to the trip to Paris. "PSG are going much better after a poor start to the season. They are confident just like we are. It's going to be a top-notch match," he said. Lyon, who have not conceded a goal in their last five league matches, will be extra motivated as they have not won in Paris since their 1-0 win in February 1999. "We are going there for the victory, just like we do on every outing," said Diarra.
