Aug. 31, 2008— -- Here's a roundup of the late night comics.

Jay Leno: President Bush called Governor Palin to congratulate her. And Bush told Palin the job of vice president was very important. Because, as vice president, you get to tell the president what to do.

Steven Colbert: (reading a memo) Governor of Alaska for 20 months. Now listen, that may not sound like much, but when you adjust for how long the nights are there that's like 36 years in the Senate.

Jimmy Kimmel: Joe Biden unleashed what I hope will become his signature move. (Biden gets down on one knee with arm out and aims a finger gun at someone in the crowd.) Kimmel: Yeah!

Jon Stewart: So private family conversations on a national stage. How'd that go? (Obama speech with daughter interrupting) Obama: Michelle. Daughter: HI, DADDY. HI, DADDY. Obama: Thank you. Daughter: Daddy, what city are you in? Hi, Gerardo family. Stewart: Isn't that -- that little girl won't shut up.
