It's amazing is that FaceBook that we started and then what was incredibly basic you know each person have profile that you had one photo. And your favorite interest -- even have basic things like. Messaging or commenting. Wall so. The face but that -- now is is leaps and bounds. Ahead of what we did then with suicide that I really enjoyed working on this. Initial photos feature which annual -- -- -- their friends which seems like second nature now but. And was was new on the Internet and then comes -- that things like the -- Messaging. This sort of stuff which all again teams antiquated and -- thirteen that was. -- -- new in 2004 a lot of people are very interested in the fact that you at 29 you've had all the success it. Your college dorm room you helped start face but -- -- broke -- Swanson now how do you do it dollar. -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- You know one of the key things -- with FaceBook -- -- and Republicans to be surrounded by really talented people and right now whether it's and editor that I have. My chief operating officer the people who run and seemed. It's really an unparalleled group of people and so. I wouldn't be able to do anything whether that's what I'm doing now or or few years ago without the help of really Smart people around me. -- -- -- related Lee wants now as young someone who wants to be an entrepreneur what advice do you have for happens. It if he wants to start a business X five Italians. We really depends on what the what the field as if it's an Internet company one of the things it's amazing is that the cost of entry the cost of creating something new is very well. You can learn a few basic skills you can become a co owner. The next thing you know -- apps in the App Store you have. You have a website up and and that's here I think it's great just to try to experiment you know whether it's me -- in the evenings and weekends there's. Very they're very few moments for innovation in other fields of course it's a little bit more challenging you know -- consumer capital investment anymore. -- deeper skills and familiarity. And in those things I think really pursuing. And education funding the human resources friends and -- and experts you can rely on. Is incredibly important. And this week a new iteration of the new republic this is what have you -- send -- -- almost a hundred years old. We have a question from Rose Marie holt -- who wants to now. What you gonna do to preserve this paper -- this magazines historic mission and what can people expect. So with a redesigned. New republic are trying to hold on to this hundred year old tradition of doing. Deep analysis on politics and culture but we're also trying to broaden and cover everything from technology to science to. To the world of ideas in a way that's really accessible in a way that feels like it invites you -- as a reader so. I think that in between thirteen in order to do that we have to have a website where you can listen to our continent where you can. Engage in social conversations with and where it's just as easy to read it on -- IPhone as it is on year on your computer screen so. When we expand and the company from where it's been historically it's about broadening. The content that we provide but also making sure. And it's as easy as possible to to only read it and also discussed. So you're friends Mark Zuckerberg. I recently announced that he would be hosting a fund raiser for Republican governor Chris Christie. What do you make of that sort of odd pairing and we have a question from Carol Stanton who wants now are you -- -- go with the Dem candidate since his Zuckerberg is going with Christine. Warning that things -- -- -- markets he's he's. Not predictable person when it comes to technology or or politics -- I for one have. Have a lot of questions about Chris Christie particularly because. Less than a year ago he vetoed -- marriage equality bill. In New Jersey state legislature which for me personally I got married to my husband's out last June was just really personally frustrating and there. Our tens of thousands of couples in New Jersey -- -- Share their love and be recognized and the law because of that decision and so I'm not a single issue voter and I think most people aren't. Either -- you know -- For me personally would it would raise serious concerns about supporting someone like him and your involvement in politics in 2008 you help President Obama. With his digital strategy are credited with a lot of the success is there. You also recently interviewed President Obama for the magazine -- did what was that like. It was incredible opportunity I mean. We see -- all the new republic has. One where we want to ask hard questions of our leaders and you don't know whether -- whatever you may think about President Obama I think one of the things that. Is in the history of the new republic in the press and -- hold our leaders. Accountable so we got a chance to go to the Oval Office. Frank for the editor of the new Republican I. It's a -- time for 45 months in. And have a wide ranging conversation on everything from Syria into economic policy to guns and to football which.
