Mom Fights Off Armed Carjackers at Florida Gas Station
The alleged carjackers jumped in the car as the mom pumped gas.
— -- Armed carjackers picked the wrong mom to mess with Monday evening. Surveillance footage from the Tom Thumb service station in Hialeah, Florida, shows the mother pumping gas when an armed carjacker jumped into the driver's seat of her convertible and another banged on the windows with his gun.
The mother, who had two children in the backseat, flung into action by pulling the masked man out of the vehicle and pushing him away from the car. The other carjacker can be seen fleeing the scene. The incident took place at approximately 10:15 p.m.
Three suspects - two male and one female - were stopped by police after a short chase. No one was injured and three handguns were taken. The suspects were arrested and are facing charges of attempted carjacking and fleeing and eluding the police, according to the Hialeah Police Department.
The mother's bravery paid off. "The woman and her kids were unharmed," Sgt. Carl Zogby of the Hialeah Police Department told ABC News.
