  • Hartford Distributors Shooting

    Brian Cirigliano, 51, of Newington, Conn., was one of eight people gunned down in Tuesday's shooting at a beer distributor in Hartford, Conn. According to the Hartford Courant, Cirigliano was president of Teamsters Local 1035, and he had accompanied alleged shooter Omar Thornton as his union representative at a meeting Tuesday morning. Cris Roos, secretary-treasurer of Local 1035, released a statement saying the meeting "could have affected [Thornton's] continued employment" at Hartford Distributors in Manchester. Cirigliano leaves behind a wife and two daughters, both in their 20s, the newspaper reported.

    Tuesday's shooting rampage also claimed the life of Craig Pepin, 60, a beer and wine wholesaler for nearly 30 years who was a truck driver for Hartford Distributors, according to the Hartford Courant. Pepin had been involved with community sports, playing softball and coaching soccer, the Courant reported, and friends said the father of four was planning to retire soon.

    Victor James, 60, was also one of eight people murdered in Tuesday's shooting rampage. James had had a 30-year career with Hartford Distributors, and he intended to retire this year, according to the Hartford Courant. James had two adult daughters and four grandchildren, and family members say he loved kids because he would say, "I'm just like one of 'em," the newspaper reported.

    The gunman, identified as 34-year-old Omar S. Thornton (above), opened fire Tuesday morning at Hartford Distributors, a beer distributorship in Manchester, Connecticut. Police say he chased through the building for 45 minutes, shooting work colleagues before killing himself.
