— -- The San Francisco Bay Area was rocked by an earthquake early this morning, and many residents wasted little time documenting the event for all to see.

The U.S. Geological Survey said the 4.0-magnitude quake struck just before 7 a.m. local time and was centered just north of Piedmont near Oakland and Berkeley. Several small aftershocks followed.

Ashely Guerin posted a video of her dogs waking up to the tremors.

No major damage or injuries have been reported, but social media immediately lit up with posts of the earthquake’s awakening people (and their pets), along with photos and video of some minor damage.

TV stations in the Bay Area were on-air as the quake rattled their studios, with some meteorologists needing to hang on to the wall while the ground shook below them.

Several people posted photos on Twitter and Instagram of minor damage around their homes.
