Citizens of Portugal collectively breathed a sigh of relief on Sunday when Portuguese soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo announced in a press conference that he recovered from an injury in his left knee and is ready to play in Monday's World Cup match against Germany. Ronaldo is arguably the "best football player in the world," (unless you live in the U.S. and call the game by its other name).
On Sunday, American fans of the television series based on books by George R.R. Martin were perhaps desensitized to yet more deaths of major characters. But the saddest reaction to the death of "Shae," a prostitute and lover of "Tyrion," who is played by American actor Peter Dinklage, came from the actress who played her.
German actress Sibel Kekilli said, "Oh, God, it’s really hard."
"A few days ago, I was in Belfast, and it was the first time I felt really sad," she told the New York Times from Hamburg, Germany, where she lives. "It was for an exhibition for 'Game of Thrones,' and it was like coming home – they are still shooting in Belfast – but it was like coming home without shooting. And I felt so sad. I think at that moment, I realized that it’s over for me."
After her "strangling" scene, she took home from the set the necklace that killed her.

Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, known affectionately as Kate Middleton watched Prince William, Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry play in the Jerudong Trophy charity polo match at Cirencester Park Polo Club, June 15, 2014, in Cirencester, England. Doing double-duty as supportive wife and loving mother, she had baby George, the future King of England, in tow, of course.
