U.S. Military Deaths in War With Iraq -- 2003

Sgt. Ryan C. Young, 21, of Corona, Calif., died at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington, D.C. Young died of injuries sustained when an improvised explosive device hit his vehicle Nov. 8 in Fallujah, Iraq.

Chief Warrant Officer Clarence E. Boone, 50, of Fort Worth, Texas, died in Kuwait City, Kuwait. Boone died as a result of a non-combat related injury.

December 1, 2003

Spc. Uday Singh, 21, of Lake Forest, Ill., was killed in Habbaniyah, Iraq. Singh died of injuries sustained when enemy forces attacked his patrol.

November 29, 2003

Spc. Aaron J. Sissel, 22, of Tipton, Iowa, was killed in Haditha, Iraq. Sissel was traveling in a convoy when his vehicle was hit by enemy fire. He died as a result of his injuries.

Staff Sgt. Stephen A. Bertolino, 40, of Orange, Calif., was killed in Haditha, Iraq. Bertolino was traveling in a convoy when his vehicle was hit by enemy fire. He died as a result of his injuries.

Sgt. Ariel Rico, 25, of El Paso, Texas, was killed in Mosul, Iraq. Rico died of injuries sustained during an enemy mortar attack.

November 27, 2003

Spc. Thomas J. Sweet II, 23, of Bismarck, N.D., died in Junction City, Iraq. Sweet died of non-combat related injuries.

November 26, 2003

Spc. David J. Goldberg, 20, of Layton, Utah, died in Qayyarah, Iraq. Goldberg died of a non-combat related injury.

November 23, 2003

Cpl. Darrell L. Smith, 28, of Otwell, Ind., died in Baghdad, Iraq. Smith drowned when his vehicle overturned and fell into a river.

CW2 Christopher G. Nason, 39, of California, was killed between Mosul and Dihok, Iraq. Nason died of injuries sustained in a vehicular accident.

Command Sgt. Maj. Jerry L. Wilson, 45, of Thomson, Ga., was killed in Mosul, Iraq, when hostile forces attacked the vehicle he was in.

Spc. Rel A. Ravago IV, 21, of Glendale, Calif., was killed in Mosul, Iraq, when hostile forces attacked the vehicle he was in.

Staff Sgt. Eddie E. Menyweather, 35, of Los Angeles, Calif., was killed in Baqubah, Iraq. Menyweather died of his injuries after an improvised explosive device hit his vehicle.

November 22, 2003

Spc. Robert D. Roberts, 21, of Winter Park, Fla., was killed in Baghdad, Iraq. Roberts died of injuries sustained when a tank collided with his vehicle.

Pfc. Damian S. Bushart, 22, of Waterford, Mich., was killed in Baghdad, Iraq. Bushart died of injuries sustained when a tank collided with his vehicle.

November 21, 2003

Cpl. Gary B. Coleman, 24, of Pikeville, Ky., was killed in Balad, Iraq. Coleman was on patrol when the vehicle he was driving flipped over into a canal trapping him inside the vehicle.

November 20, 2003

Spc. Josph L. Lister, 22, of Pleasanton, Kan., was killed in Ar Ramadi, Iraq. Lister was in a convoy when his vehicle was hit by an improvised explosive device.

Capt. George A. Wood, 33, of New York, N.Y., was killed in Baqubah, Iraq. Wood was on patrol when his tank rolled over an improvised explosive device.

Pvt. Scott M. Tyrrell, 21, of Sterling, Ill., died at Brooke Army Medical Center, in San Antonio, Texas, of wounds received on Nov. 14 in Tikrit, Iraq. Tyrrell was at an ammunition point when it caught on fire.

November 17, 2003

Capt. Nathan S. Dalley, 27, of Kaysville, Utah, died from a non-hostile gunshot wound in Baghdad, Iraq. Dalley was assigned to the 2nd Brigade, 1st Armored Division, Baumholder, Germany.
