Nelson Mandela's memorial service drew some 100 heads of state and other luminaries in Johannesburg.

2. Lawmakers Reach Deal to Fund Military in 2014
Leaders of the Senate and House Armed Services Committees hammered out a deal to move forward with the defense authorization bill to fund the nation's military next year.

3. 'Sound of Music' Actress Dies
Eleanor Parker, who played The Baroness in "The Sound of Music," died at 91.

4. Texas Woman to Admit to Sending Ricin to Obama
Shannon Guess Richardson, the Texas woman accused of sending ricin-laced letters to President Obama and New York Mayor Mike Bloomberg, is expected to plead guilty under a deal that caps any prison sentence at 18 years.

5. Man Who Allegedly Pranked NFL, NBA Coaches Arrested
Police have arrested a man in Los Angeles who they say pranked at least a dozen coaches from the NFL, NBA and college football into believing he was offering them jobs with pro or college teams.
