In a rare admission, the Chinese government says it has a "very serious" AIDS epidemic on its hands. There has been a 67 percent increase in the number of AIDS cases over the last year. Read more.

Coffee and Heart Disease

Researchers in Norway report that people who stopped drinking coffee for just six weeks had a significantly lowered risk of heart disease. Laying off coffee reduced blood levels of cholesterol and homocysteine, two major risk factors for heart disease.

Food and Drink

Researchers in France report that women who drink a lot of alcohol also eat more. They say heavy drinkers consume 12 percent more calories and 31 percent more cholesterol than nondrinkers. Read more.
