A new study finds that two of the most common screening exams for colon cancer are ineffective. The tests, less invasive than a full colonoscopy, can miss up to 75 percent of precancerous growths. Read more.

The UCLA Medical Center says it plans to become the second hospital in the country to implant a self-contained artificial heart. The heart will be the same 4-pound device that was implanted in 59-year-old Robert Tools, who spoke publicly for the first time Tuesday. Read more.
