Coming up next tonight, new jersey governor chris christie, giving another apology today for the epic traffic jam, reportedly orchestrated by members of his inner circle. Today, the man known for his bare-knuckle style took the stage again. And abc correspondent jim avila tells us what he said today. Reporter: It was chris christie's fourth state of the state address. And with scandal swirling, you could see from his face, as he entered the chamber, his most important. The last week has certainly tested this administration. Reporter: He spoke slowly and deliberately as he carefully delivered four paragraphs about the dirty politics his administration was caught practicing at the george washington bridge. Delivering a well-worn political phrase, spoken when the boss wants to apologize without taking personal responsibility. Mistakes were clearly made. And as a result, we let down the people we're entrusted to serve. Reporter: Governor christie walked that fine line. Mistakes were made. What he didn't say was, I made mistakes. Sound familiar? It should. Serious mistakes -- mistakes were made here. Where mistakes have been made. A serious mistake was made. Reporter: The governor did promise to do better today and clearly tried to change the focus. The rest of his speech bragged about how well he works with opponents. I know our citizens deserve better. Reporter: Governor christie answered no questions on the way out. And his strategy does seem to be working. The only poll taken since the scandal broke, shows that he still has a 59% approval rating. Diane? Back on the christie story for us. Jim avila. Thank you, jim.
