A massive sinkhole. They don't know what caused it. Across this country they do know what's behind so many potholes out there. A brutal and never ending Wint winter. ABC with the pictures tonight. Reporter: The ground beneath this road caved leaving a sinkhole 16 feet deep and 30 feet wide. The latest in a string of similar incidents across the country. Just over a week ago the ground under this West Virginia road crumbled and in New York a 65-year-old woman's car went tail up. In many cases sinkholes form when water underground washes away the limestone. It turns out 20% of the country is vulnerable. Florida, Texas, Alabama, Missouri, Kentucky. Tennessee and Pennsylvania. They stand on bed rock like limestone. Also potholes, a brutally cold winter worsened Normal wear and tear on the records. Americans already spend an estimated $5 billion a year repairing the damage to their cars. It's not just a big issue for drivers. New York has allocated an extra $7 million to repair the roads this year since the first of January it's already fixed more than 200,000 pot hotels. Thank you. What a mess after a long winter.
