Tonight, the taliban is taking responsibility after the entire group of tourists was killed. It unfolded in a part of pakistan that rarely sees violence like this. And here tonight, abc's jeffrey kofman. Reporter: So many have died on the world's ninth highest peak that they call it killer mountain. This weekend, though, at least nine foreign tourists, one of them american, were killed before they had a chance to scale the mountain. According to reports from remote northern pakistan, they were gunned down at base camp by taliban militants dressed as security officers. It is a place where you go and clean your soul. This is not a place where one would expect terrorism. Reporter: A taliban spokesman claims the killings were retaliation for the death of one of their leaders by a u.S. Drone attack last month.
