What Eric Holder Says About the Pressure of Being Attorney General

— -- Eric Holder recently talked about sacrifices he and his family have made during his tenure as attorney general.

Holder is expected to announce today he is resigning from his post as the nation's top prosecutor, a Justice Department official told ABC News.

Here's what Holder said in a recent interview with ABC News' Pierre Thomas in London.

THOMAS: And I have to ask you one last personal question. ... We talked about all the different threats. You've been doing this job going on six years now. How difficult is it to just maintain a life? You have a family. You have kids that you’re taking care of? Is it difficult just to do this job. You’re looking at all the different ways people are trying to kill us every day? How difficult is it to do the job?

HOLDER: There's no question that this is a ... demanding job. But it is the honor of my professional life to serve the American people as attorney general. I hope I've done a good job; I've certainly tried to do as good a job as I can. There are sacrifices that I've had to make, that my family has had to make. And I am forever in the debt of my wonderful wife, who has done a great job with our kids while I've not been able to be there as much as I've wanted to be. And I also am indebted to my kids, who have, you know, missed their dad over the course of these 5.5 years or so. I owe them for them allowing me to do this job. And I hope that I've done it well.
