Several Maryland boards of elections received bomb threats Friday night, the state administrator of elections said on X.
Elections officials were in the process of counting ballots.
“Currently several local boards of elections received bomb threats. Buildings are evacuated and everyone is safe,” Jared DeMarinis said.
"This madness must stop," the administrator said, adding that law enforcement and federal officials were involved in the response.
In a later post, he said, while safety is a top concern, ballot counting would resume Saturday.
