Three Consecutive Days of Election Protests in Venezuela
Protests continue in Venezuela after Sunday's highly disputed presidential vote.
April 18, 2013— -- Venezuela remains in a delicate state after Sunday's presidential election in which Nicolas Maduro was delcared the winnery by a very slim margin over opposition candidate Henrique Capriles.
According to Venezuelan officials Maduro, Hugo Chavez's handpicked successor, won the election with just 300,000 votes more than Capriles. But the opposition candidate and his supporters are demanding a full recount of votes.
The opposition organized a protest on Wednesday but it was forced to cancel it after President Maduro accused Capriles of trying to stage a coup, and said he would "not allow," any protest to go into downtown Caracas.
