Developing Story: Countdown to 9/11; New Al Qaeda Video to Come

September 8, 2008— -- Just days ahead of the 9/11 anniversary, al Qaeda's media arm is poised to release a video thought to be about the attacks nearly seven years ago.

A banner on a militant jihad website posted Monday advertises the video, showing a countdown from nine to zero, and saying, "Wait… September 11." It then shows the twin towers exploding. Another banner on the website carries the warning "…wait, September 11, with the permission of God, you will see what will happen."

Also on Monday, al Qaeda's number two man, Ayman al-Zawahri appeared in a new video on Al Jazeera, railing against Iran, among others, for not resisting the US invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq.
