March 17, 2011— -- Ever feel overwhelmed at the grocery store?

Some 47,000 new food products were introduced in 2010 alone. With so many choices, you think you're buying healthy - but maybe not!

Here are seven easy, healthier food swaps to save you calories:

Chicken or Turkey Sausage for Pork Sausage

The Swap: Nationwide meat brands have started offering both precooked chicken and turkey sausages and lately lots more uncooked Italian sausages in chicken in turkey that you can cook with peppers and onions with very little drop off in taste.Benefits: Saves approximately 7 grams of fat per serving.

Kashi Heart to Heart Cereal instead of Life Cereal

The Swap: Kashi Heart to Heart tastes a little like Honey Nut Cheerios so it's a good one for kids and adults. Benefits: Increased fiber, reduced sugar

Soken Low Fat Ramen for Top Ramen noodles

The Swap: This dry ramen is as easy to make as Top Ramen but it's got a lot less fat. Benefits: almost 6 grams less fat per serving.

7-Grain Van's Belgian waffles instead of Eggo waffles

The Swap: Both taste good and are easy to pop in the toaster before work or school.Benefits:The Van's waffles have more fiber, 2 grams more protein and 2 grams less fat than Eggos. Another option, the low fat, Nutrigrain Eggo waffles which have the least fat of all with 2.5 grams but only 4 grams of protein.

Smart Bagels or Bagel Thins instead of Standard bagels

The Swap: Top these portion-controlled thinner bagels with Hummus for a vitamin-rich, lower-fat option than bagels. Benefits: 1/3 the calories, 1/4 the fat of standard bagels.

Air-popped Popcorn or "Half-naked" brand popcorn instead of chips

The Swap: Both snacks are crunchy finger food that can be consumed mindlessly.The Benefits: Air-popped popcorn and the bagged "Half-Naked" brand are whole grain options that are much lower in calories and fat than traditional chips.

100 Percent Peanut Peanut Butter instead of Peanut Butter with oil and sugar

The Swap: Taste the same, slightly chunkier spread for the 100 percent peanut varietyThe Benefits:Less fat, less sugar
