A Look at ATM, Bounced Check Fees

Oct. 31, 2006 — -- A new study by Bankrate.com found that the average surcharge for withdrawing money from ATMs jumped to an all-time high of $1.64 this year. The avearge penalty for bouncing a check also hit a record high of $27.40. So how can you withdraw money without getting bilked?
Here's a quick look at the ATM surcharges and bounced check penalty fees for interest-bearing checking accounts at some of the biggest banks and online banks in the country.
