— -- Simmer down, Aerosmith fans: The band is not replacing lead singer Steven Tyler.

A statement posted on Aerosmith's Twitter account and released by its reps on Friday said, "There's absolutely no truth to a story circulating that Aerosmith is looking for a new singer."

Tyler, 68, is currently recording a country album in Nashville.

The band was forced to set the record straight after guitarist Brad Whitford said in a recent interview that the band has "considered" touring with another singer.

But in Friday's statement, lead guitarist Joe Perry said, "Any rumor out there about us looking for another singer is completely untrue. All five of us were just on the phone together talking about how excited we are to go to South America and Mexico City."

That tour kicks off Sept. 29 in Bogota, Colombia, and ends in Mexico City on Oct. 27.
