'American Idol': Who Is Caleb Johnson
All you need to know about the season 13 champion.
May 22, 2014 -- On Wednesday night, Caleb Johnson rocked the world by winning "American Idol."
But who is Caleb Perry Johnson?
Johnson is 23 years old and hails from Asheville, North Carolina -- and he's been on "American Idol" before.
He tried out for seasons 10 and 11, being put through to Hollywood Week in 2010, then making it to the top 42 in 2011. He was cut when they narrowed the field down to 24 that season after his performance of "Old Time Rock and Roll."
But 2013 did the trick when he became the only finalist in the season to never land in the bottom 3 prior to reaching the finale.

Songs sung by Johnson this year have included "Sympathy for the Devil" by the Rollings Stones, "Radioactive" by Imagine Dragons and "Dream On" by Aerosmith on last night's finale.
Johnson has also been part of a band prior to "Idol." His group Elijah Hooker released its self-titled debut album "Elijah Hooker" just last year.
As you can tell, Johnson's style includes rock, hard rock and heavy metal.
Following the victory, Johnson said: "I cannot wait to release some original soulful heavy rock n roll music for you in the coming months !!! God bless each and everyone of you !!!:) What an honor and privilege!"
He now has a new single, "As Long As You Love Me."
