— -- Dating is hard enough for the average Joe, but just imagine you're Hailey Baldwin dating Justin Bieber.

The daughter of actor Stephen Baldwin and the pop singer dated for a bit earlier this year before splitting up. In an interview with Marie Claire, Baldwin, 19, opened up about why the relationship didn't work for her.

"I don't want attention out of dating somebody," she said in the May issue of the magazine. "Texts started coming through, crazy phone calls ... it's hard to date somebody in this industry. You have to have really thick skin and be very strong. You have to focus on the person and nothing else."

Baldwin isn't the first to complain about dating in the public eye:

Scarlett Johansson on Ex-Husband Ryan Reynolds

"The logistics of being with another actor are challenging," she said in the May issue of Cosmopolitan magazine about her marriage that ended in 2011. "There has to be a real understanding of how you share your time, especially when two people's careers are going at the same rate. Or even if one person is more successful than the other, that also proves challenging. There may be a competitive thing."

Vince Vaughn on Dating Jennifer Aniston

"For me personally -- and I think most well-known actors who are together feel this way -- I never enjoyed the paparazzi side of it," he told Playboy last year about their split in 2006. "You like someone and you're spending time with them; that's separate and that was all fine. But I really spent most of that time finding ways not to be drawn into the attention. I think lying low and not talking about it put me in a good position later, because I just wasn't part of anything."

Jennifer Lopez on Her Love Life

"I think to give something a chance, to really get to know somebody, you want to do it out of the public eye," she told Glamour magazine in 2011. "You know the media -- they want to rush everything."

Michael B. Jordan on His Dating Life

"I understand what females want and need, you know. I’m good at that. I don’t know if I’m the guy to give it to them right now. I’m emotionally unavailable," the actor told GQ last year. "Until I find something that’s so undeniable that I can’t help myself. Other than that, I need to work on making sure my mom is okay. That’s all I care about, honestly. Females, they come and go."
