“Magic Mike XXXL” stars Channing Tatum and Matt Bomer have plenty spicy dance moves of their own, but on “Good Morning America” this morning the actors joined us to highlight another dancer that’s giving them a run for their money in the moves department.
Rico Sergent, a dance teacher at Arkansas' Shuffles Dance Studio, believed he was being interviewed as a finalist for our “Magic Mike XXL” Epic Dance Contest, but the stars of the film gave him the surprise of a lifetime by announcing he was, in fact, the winner.
“What’s up, Rico?,” Tatum said from ABC News' Times Square studio. “We’re super impressed and we want you to come to the premier and get down with us. Whatcha say?”
“Oh mannnnnnn, I’m the winner?,” Sergent said covering his mouth in shock, surrounded by his closest friends, family and students at his dance studio.
“GMA” asked viewers to send in videos showing off their best morning-friendly dance to moves to an instrumental version of Ginuwine’s “Pony,” the song Tatum danced to in the first movie. Entries came flooding in, but Sergent’s video stood out to the fellas who know best.
“You don’t just wake up with moves like that, Rico,” said Bomer. “How long have you been practicing dancing? Has this been your whole life?”
“It’s been a life process,” Sergent replied. “I’m 23 now and I’ve been dancing ever since the age of nine. So it’s been a long, long road. Tons of classes, many different styles, and lots of hard work in and outside of the studio-- Street and in studio. It’s been a long road.”
That long road is now paying off with a special trip to Los Angeles to hang out at the film’s premier with the cast who inspired all his magical moves.
“First and foremost I’m a huge fan of you guys,” Sergent told Bomer and Tatum. “I’m really excited to be out in LA to watch the premier with you all. I’m a huge fan of dancing. You guys do a phenomenal job.”
"Magic Mike XXL" his theaters July 1.
