Christie Brinkley and John Mellencamp Split
The model and the musician had been dating for about a year.
— -- Christie Brinkley and John Mellencamp have ended their relationship.
A rep for the couple told ABC News that the split was amicable and the two remain close.
People was the first to report the news.
"Both the mileage between their homes and their heavy career demands interfered with their ability to maintain the relationship,” their spokeswoman said. "They vowed to remain best of friends."
Brinkley, 62, has been promoting her new line of Prosecco, while Mellencamp, 64, had been on tour.
The two were first linked last year, and earlier this year, Brinkley, told People that they were "really opposites."
"He's kind of a throwback from another time, like a silent cowboy,'" she said. "But then we talked and realized that we do have a lot of shared interests."
A rep for the couple did not immediately respond to ABC News' request for comment.
