April 11, 2014 -- Debbie Rowe is engaged.

The mother of Michael Jackson's two oldest children, Prince and Paris, is set to wed the King of Pop's friend, Marc Schaffel.

"We haven't set a date. I'm happy with just how things are," she told TMZ.com. "We'll take it a little bit at a time!"

However, Rowe said that it took her awhile to say yes to Schaffel's proposal. When he first asked for her hand in marriage, she said that she was worried that she had cancer and didn't want to commit to him until she knew her health status.

"Yesterday I went to see Dr. Fuller and he said, 'You're good. You're good to go,'" she said. "I drove up to the house and I said, 'OK, I'm here and I'm gonna be here for awhile, so I'm gonna marry you."

Rowe met Schaffel when he was working with Jackson, and the two become friends. Eventually, that friendship turned into something more. Now, the two are splitting their time between Los Angeles and Rowe's horse ranch in Palmdale, Calif., and, she said, he's also close with her two children with Jackson.

"They've known him since they were little," she said. "They like him a lot."
