— -- It was revealed yesterday that Darth Vader is going to be back in "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story," out in theaters later this year.

Now, Entertainment Weekly has confirmed the legendary James Earl Jones, 85, will return to voice the Sith lord.

"He will be in the movie sparingly," Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy told the magazine about the standalone film that is separate from the core saga.

She continued, “But at a key, strategic moment, he’s going to loom large.”

The movie takes place 19 years after "Revenge of the Sith" aka "Episode III." In fact, Vader is mostly an iconic myth and not talked about all that much, though most of the rebels know he's out there.

“There’s definitely an underlying feeling that there is a power -- a dark power -- available to the Empire and that if you overstep your mark, you will suffer the consequences," director Gareth Edwards added.

The difference with this film is that Vader is considered a villain and so is Ben Mendelsohn’s Director Orson Krennic, and though they both serve the Empire, they are not allies.

While Krennic wants to move up in the ranks, Vader is "not accountable to anybody, really, except Palpatine," said Kiri Hart, Lucasfilm’s chief of story development.

"Rogue One" hits theaters on Dec. 16.
