All Eyes on Kate’s Royal Baby Bump and Maternity Style
The Duchess of Cambridge sports British designers and chic coats.
— -- The Duke and the Duchess of Cambridge are taking the United States by storm, and, as usual, all eyes are on the blooming Kate’s bump and her maternity fashions.
"It's all about the bump now. It's all about baby number two,” Royal correspondent Victoria Murphy of the Daily Mirror told ABC News. “We still love Prince George, but we're looking forward to learning more about baby number two. There's going to be a lot of focus on Kate's growing bump, her maternity style, how much she's showing.”
Upon her arrival Sunday, Katie has wowed New Yorkers while wearing an elegant Seraphine coat and looked chic Monday in Harlem in a black coat by British designer Goat. That night she shined sitting courtside at the Barclays Center, in a gray coat by top American designer Tory Burch and black jeans.
For the royals' visit to the 9/11 Memorial and Museum today, Kate wore a pink coat by Mulberry -- another British designer -- and a Seraphine dress underneath.
"Kate overall has been such a fashion plate. She's really rocked the fashion world in a really subtle way," Joe Zee, editor in chief of Yahoo Style, said today on "Good Morning America." "She got here when it’s cold and she’s making the coat a real statement.”
Zee gave Kate a "ten across the board" in terms of her fashion choices, especially her chic outerwear to combat the cold and rainy weather in New York.
"She’s using the coat as a dress. I love that idea," Zee said. "She’s sticking to the silhouettes that she knows, so it’s that shorter coat above the knee, three-quarter sleeves. ... I think she looked phenomenal."
Kate is known to champion British designers. A few favorites include Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen, who designed her wedding dress and has provided the duchess with numerous styles for official functions. She's also a fan of Jenny Packham gowns. But she also buys clothes off the rack at well-known affordable stores like LK Bennett that sell out immediately.
When Kate, 32, is on tour, she typically likes to showcase local designers. The Tory Burch coat worn by the duchess on Monday night is already sold out, Zee said on “GMA.”
Ralph Lauren and Diane von Furstenberg are firm favorites among the U.S. designers and could also make an appearance in Kate's wardrobe on this visit.
It wouldn't be a Royal tour without a little glam and glitz and this trip is no different. No one does elegant bling better than the Royal family and, hopefully, we'll see the duchess dazzling in some never-before-seen pieces
"I think this could be an opportunity for her to possibly borrow something from the queen,” correspondent Murphy said. “And I think that we will really see her glam up and dress up for those evening events.”
On Sunday night, the dazzling duchess turned heads in a black lace Beulah dress and gorgeous diamond chandelier earrings.
Everyone imagines a princess with her tiara but probably not on this trip. They are only reserved for more formal state visits.
"We can expect to see her in those evening gowns teaming with jewels,” Murphy added. “It’s unlikely that she'll be wearing a tiara, but I think she will be wearing some dazzling jewels.”
Later today Kate will likely wow again attending a fundraiser at the Metropolitan Museum to celebrate the 600th anniversary of the University of St. Andrews, their alma mater and where they met.
Rest assured that wherever the Duchess of Cambridge wears, all eyes will be watching.
