An Emotional Selena Gomez Pays Tribute to Christina Grimmie During Miami Concert
"I don't really understand how this really happened," the singer said.
— -- Selena Gomez paid tribute to her slain friend Christina Grimmie during a concert in Miami Friday night.
Fighting back tears, Gomez told concert-goers at American Airlines Arena, "One thing about Christina and her family is that she holds her faith so closely to her," Gomez said of the former "The Voice" singer, who was gunned down by a man following a concert in Orlando Thursday. "I think it's not about a religion and it's not about good deeds. I think she just had faith and I don't really understand how this really happened, but I would like to dedicate this song to her."
Gomez then proceeded to perform a heartfelt rendition of her song "Transfiguration."
Gomez, 23, also reportedly cancelled a meet-and-greet with fans in Miami following Grimmie's death.
Earlier in the day, Gomez posted a photo of herself hamming it up with Grimmie, writing, "My heart is absolutely broken. I miss you Christina."
