— -- More details are in about the long-awaited "Mean Girls" musical coming to Broadway next year.

The modern take on the 2004 cult classic film from creator Tina Fey will be set in the modern era of iPhones, Androids and social media, and will begin previews next March, according to The New York Times.

The show will have the same characters -- Regina, Gretchen and more -- with the musical’s book written by Fey and music composed by her husband, Jeff Richmond.

Lorne Michaels, the executive producer of "SNL" who arguably introduced the world to Fey and her writing, will also produce.

"The expectation is going to be really high for it," he told The Times. "There are lots of things you can do better in a musical. The characters are fuller.”

Before Broadway, the show will debut in Washington, D.C., this October.

The cast will include Taylor Louderman as Regina, Kate Rockwell as Karen and Ashley Park as Gretchen.

"Taylor Louderman not only has this giant voice and great comic timing, but she instinctively understood the idea of Regina George, that there’s power in making people come to you," Fey told Entertainment Weekly about her show's star.
