Feb. 25, 2014 -- Khloé Kardashian has called her split from estranged husband Lamar Odom "torture to my soul" but she's not letting it shake her spirit.

In a new interview with Cosmopolitan magazine, on stands March 4, the "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" star, 29, opened up about her desire to have a family still.

"I love kids. I hope and pray I have kids when the time is right," she said.

However, that doesn't mean she's got her life all planned out.

"I live for the moment. If you think too far in the future, you might get disappointed or set the bar too low," she added. "It sucks at times, but everything happens for a reason, no matter how sh---y your circumstances are. To say where I want to be in 10 years. ... I have no idea. I just know that I want to be happy and smiling."

Of course, she's overcome her fair share of obstacles recently. Not only did she recently file for divorce from Odom, but she also said on her E! reality show that she was "angry and confused and irritated in the weeks leading up to the split.

"Your life is meant for you to understand and process, not to make anyone else happy. Kim was so thrashed for her marriage and it not working out. If she wasn't happy it took guts to say, 'You know what? I can't do this anymore.' But you're damned if you do and damned if you don't," she said. "People hate us for showing stuff and they hate us when we say, 'Fine, we won't show it anymore.' I don't have any regrets. I wouldn't change a thing. You learn as you go."

Kardashian also talked about her family, who has also seen its fair share of press lately. Her mother and stepfather, Kris and Bruce Jenner, announced their separation in October, and now, Bruce, who has been sporting a new look lately, has been living alone in Malibu.

"It makes me sad that people think Bruce is no longer a part of my life," she said. "I talk to him every day! I consider him my second father."
