Kim Kardashian's History With Showing Nudity in Magazines
The reality TV star has gone back and forth about how she feels about it.
— -- This week, it's been hard to get anybody to talk about anything other than Kim Kardashian's racy Paper magazine cover.
However, this isn't the first time the "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" star has bared all for a publication.
Starting in 2007, when Kardashian, now 34, posed for Playboy, she's vacillated on how she feels about doing nude photo shoots. (These days, she's decidedly pro.)
Here's a brief history of the reality TV star's relationship with going au natural.
2007: Kardashian, then an up-and-coming reality TV star with a brand new E! show about her family, was reluctant to pose for Playboy, but her mother, Kris Jenner, all but insisted she do it. "I come up with this idea that I am totally comfortable being nude if I'm draped in diamonds and pearls," Kardashian said in an episode of the show. "Posing for Playboy was a huge challenge for me but in the end, I'm so extremely happy that I did it."
2010: A few years later, Kardashian posed nude for the cover of W magazine, with her unmentionables censored. However, the pictorial inside showed the reality TV star naked, covered in body paint. She was beside herself and called the photos "porn." "I feel so f***ing taken advantage of. They promised me I'd be fully covered," she sobbed in an episode of "Keeping Up with the Kardashians." "I just am never getting naked again. ... I obviously knew what I was getting myself into. I was posing nude. [But] I don't want people to be like, 'All she's good for is being naked.'"
Early 2013: Gaining weight during pregnancy was tough for Kardashian, who gave birth to her daughter North in June, 2013. However, it also got her thinking about going nude again. "As soon as I pop this thing out -- as soon as I get in shape -- the first thing I want to do is Playboy or some nude shoot. I just wanna walk down the street fully naked," Kardashian told her sisters Kourtney and Khloé in an episode of their reality TV show. "I’m gonna be the sexy hot mom.”
Late 2013: True to her word, just four months after welcoming her daughter, Kardashian tweeted a risque photo of herself wearing a white one-piece and nothing else. "#NoFilter," she captioned it.
2014: Kardashian and Paper magazine attempted to "break the Internet" with a provocative photo shoot of the reality star showing full frontal-nudity. "It was her idea to take off her clothes and show more than her butt," Mickey Boardman, editorial director of Paper Magazine, told Yahoo! Style. "Kim’s attitude was, 'If we’re gonna do it, let's really go there.' ... She was willing to take her clothes off and one thing led to another."
