Why Lupita Nyong'o Originally Hated Her Met Gala 2014 Dress

Oscar winner Lupita Nyong'o has been the red carpet queen over the last year, but surprised everyone Monday night at the Met Ball wearing a green, see-through Prada flapper-style dress that had everyone loving or hating the new look.

Apparently, People magazine's Most Beautiful Woman also felt the same way when she first saw the dress.

"This [was] the first sketch they showed us," she told Vogue, pointing to her green Prada dress. "We nixed it, we didn't understand the sketch. We were like, 'No, maybe not.'"

Even after not liking that idea, Nyong'o said Prada made that dress and other designs for the fitting.

"When I saw it hanging there, of course, I was deeply attracted to it," she said. "I call it the taxi dress."
